Camp selection

Camp selection and construction is a major issue related to the rest of the staff. The choice of camp is very special. Here are some things to keep in mind:

Near water: Camping and resting are inseparable from water. Proximity to water is the number one factor in choosing a camp.

Therefore, campsites should be close to streams, lakes and rivers for water collection. However, campsites should not be tied to the beach. Some rivers have power plants upstream. During the impoundment period, the river beach is wide and the flow is small. Once the water is released, the beach will be full, including some creeks, which are small in normal times. Once there is heavy rain, there may be flooding or flash floods. Attention should be paid to preventing such problems, especially in the rainy season and areas prone to flash floods.

Leeward: When camping in the wild, we must consider the leeward, especially in some valleys and beaches. We should choose to camp in the lee. And pay attention to the orientation of the tent door, do not face the wind. Leeward is also considered fire safety and convenience.

Far Cliffs: When camping, you can't place your camp under a cliff, it's dangerous. Once there is a strong wind in the mountains, you can knock down rocks and other things, causing casualties.

Close to the village: If the camp is close to the village, if there is no firewood, vegetables, food, etc., it is more important to ask the villagers for help. Facilitate the flow and transfer of teams.

Shade: If you need to stay in a camp for more than two days, you should choose a shady spot and camp in good weather. For example, under big trees and on the north side of the mountain, try to face the sun instead of the setting sun. This way, if you rest during the day, the tent won't get too stuffy.

Lightning protection: In rainy season or areas prone to lightning strikes, the camp should not be built on high ground, under big trees or relatively isolated flat ground. Easily struck by lightning.

Building a camp

After a camp is selected, it is necessary to build a camp. Especially for a field camp of a certain scale, the construction of the entire camp is particularly important, which can be divided into the following steps:

Site leveling: clear the selected tent area and remove unevenness such as stones and shrubs , prickly, pointed things. Uneven areas can be filled with soil or grass. If it is a slope, as long as the slope does not exceed 10 degrees, it can be used as a campsite.

Site division: A complete camp should be divided into tent areas, camping areas, fire areas, dining areas, recreational areas, water (washing) and sanitation areas. The first is to implement the camp first. The fire zone should be located at least 0-15 meters from the road to prevent the tent from burning. The dining area should be close to the fire for cooking and eating. The activity and entertainment area should be at the downwind of the dining area to prevent dust from contaminating tableware and other items, and keep a distance of 15-20 meters from the tent area to reduce the impact on early sleepers. The sanitation area should be located downwind of the camping area and at a certain distance from the dining and activity areas. The water area should be upstream and downstream of streams and rivers. The upstream is drinking water and the downstream is domestic water.

Construction of tent camp area: If there are several tents in the tent camp area, pay attention: First, all tents should face one direction, that is, the tent doors should be opened in one direction and arranged side by side. 2. The distance between tents should not be less than 1 meter. If it is not necessary to avoid tripping people, the windproof rope of the tent should not be tied too far. 3. When necessary, a cordon (ditch) should be set up. Sleeping in the wild can be attacked by threatened animals or bad guys. Of course, this possibility is very small. You can draw a circle around the tent area with irritants such as lime, tar, etc. outside the tent area, which will keep snakes and other reptiles away. Or use the electronic newspaper jing system and other methods.

Construction of dining area by fire: dining by fire is generally at the same place or nearby, this area should be at a certain distance from the tent area, and the tent should be burned with sparks. Cooking sites are places with soil and stone ridges for excavation and construction of stoves. The collected firewood should be stacked outdoors or in the wind. There is as much lawn as possible around the dining area, and the 'table' can be a large, flat stone or it can be placed on the ground. ''Dining chairs' try to use stones, or sit on the ground, because the air is harmful to the human body.
