I wouldn't be here without their bravery.
Charles Mitchell, 76, was called Tom by family and friends, and his wife, Faye, was traveling from mendolan to Dubbo, at this time, they met a utility company on the road to Forrest in Brocklehurst and hit a tin tree."We stopped and I used to see if anyone was still in there," Mr Mitchell said ."."I saw a man leaning against the steering wheel.
I can feel the pulse on his neck and know he's still alive."I 've been working on gears but can't seem to open it."The vehicle was hit in on the left hand side and the driver's leg seemed stuck in the well at the bottom of the vehicle.
"It doesn't look good at all.
"I went back to our car and asked Faye to call triple 000."She had a bad time with the emergency operator who kept asking about the name of the road.Wong has always said that this is the concierge on Dubbo Road.
"We need emergency services, which is very frustrating for us.I want to pick up the phone and abuse the power of the operator, but it won't do any good.\ "I went back to the scene of the accident and could see the fire starting under the top of the dashboard.
I don't have water or anything to put out. Some other people came about 15 minutes later. We tried to move the door and suddenly the door opened.
"By that time, the fire had burned both the clothes on the man's legs and his hands. The hair at the front of his head began to burn."We still can't get that guy out, and the fire is starting to spread.
We had to reinforce his body in order to keep him safe."When we put him on the ground, there must be about 15 cars at the scene."I have never seen a man burning and do not want to see it again.
The driver would have died if we couldn't get him out.It can't bear to think. The poor fireman hardly made a sound.About five months after the accident, Mr. Mitchell contacted Mr. Manning and visited him at his home."It's great to see him," Mr Mitchell said ."."As Larry, he was very happy to be alive. He was dumbfounded when Mr. Mitchell received a letter about his offer.
"I don't understand why they're giving me Awards," he said ."."I'm happy to receive it, but I don't feel like I'm doing that much.Anyone who feels will stop to help.I can't drive all the time. The 36-year-old broke Lawrence and 32-year-old partner Katie Abbott heard two loud noises at home about 300 metres from the scene of the accident.
MS Abbott walked outside and saw some smoke coming out of the tree. She heard a voice screaming "he's burning, he's burning "."I went to Brok and grabbed the small fire extinguisher we bought two days ago," she said .
".
"We drove to the scene of the accident and never forgot what we found.MS Abbott, 37 weeks pregnant, stood behind Mr Lawrence and tried to get into the crumpled vehicle.Due to the degree of burns on his face, the couple did not recognize their neighbors.
Mr.

".
"I didn't stop until Jamie was finally free.Later I found out that I had dislocated his hips, but that was the last thing he was worried about. He was easily burned alive. When Mr. Lawrence and Mr. Mitchell rescued Mr. Manning from the car, Abbott MS provided first aid.
"His body is still burning and we put out the fire with jackets and other things we can find," she said ."."It's raining recently and the ground is still wet, so I put mud on his boots and legs. The smell of burning meat is terrible."I 've never seen such a thing in my life, and to be honest, I don't think Jamie will succeed.
I was shocked when he was conscious and began to speak.Mr Lawrence was surprised by Mr Manning's forbearance."I am talking to Jamie to try to keep him awake and tell him the ambulance is on the way," said Mr Lawrence .
".
"Despite the burns and serious injuries, he told me he was fine and did not need an ambulance."I'm worried about Jamie and Katie.I think she might have a baby on the spot. Our daughter Anna came in less than two weeks later.
